Metro de Valencia Project
Metro de Valencia - Valencia, Venezuela:
Valencia is the capital city of Carabobo State in Venezuela. The city is an economic hub that contains Venezuela’s top industries and manufacturing companies. The population of Valencia is approximately 1.2 million and it is expected to grow dramatically in years to come.
The first line of the light rail metro system partly underground, is getting close to completion. The first 6.2 kilometer long stretch will include 7 stations. Platforms are 120 meter long, 4.7 kilometer underground between Lasferias and Cedeno (bored tunnel). The maintenance facility is located next to the southern Talmenos Monumental.
Six trains were built by Siemens Transportation Systems in California and the design is based on the vehicles used in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Permanently coupled pairs can operate as single units or be coupled to up to 4 unit train sets. Trains are planned to run every 4 minutes. Regular service is scheduled to start in March 2007. Railquip, Inc. supplied and installed all of the maintenance equipment necessary for maintaining the LRV’s and track.
