Mini and Maxi Railcar Mover

The Mini Railcar Mover is capable of moving 165 tons in forward or reverse, on level surface at a speed of 3.1 MPH. Originally designed for shunting tank or freight cars by engaging the wheel, it can now be equipped with a lifting pad attachment enabling its use outside the bogie area. A hydraulically powered lifting device engages the vehicle at the lifting pad and transfers the load to the running surface for its tractive power.

Designed for years of heavy use, the Mini Railcar Mover will virtually eliminate the need for capstans, winches, "rabbits" or heavy-duty track mounted shunting vehicles in your Rail Transit Maintenance Shop area. Application:

The Mini Railcar Mover is positioned at a 90 degree angle to the front wheel of the lead bogie and pushed forward until it makes firm contact with the wheel. The drive gear is then elevated and the Mini Railcar Mover is now resting on its four rubber coated drive rollers. Two steel rollers which are connected through the clamping cylinder are pressed against the wheel flange and the running surface by pulling a handle at the control arm. The pressure of the steel rollers against the wheel flange and running surface creates the proper friction between the rubber coated drive rollers and the floor surface. A lever at the control arm is then pulled to activate the drive rollers of the Mini Railcar Mover and it starts moving the railcar in the desired direction.

Shunting is always done in the forward motion. The driving direction is changed by turning the control arm by 180 degrees.

Battery and Gas Powered Railcar Mover

The Maxi Railcar Mover offers maneuverability, cost-effective operation, and multi-directional capabilities heretofore unknown in the railroad/rail transit maintenance shop. The expense of purchasing and maintaining large vehicle shunting equipment is virtually eliminated. The Maxi Railcar Mover, powered by a 15 HP gasoline, diesel, LPG, or Battery engine utilizes its own weight to develop the required friction on the rail to effect the movement. Hydraulically powered wheels are engaged to start and stop the shunting operation, which can be in either direction. The Maxi Railcar Mover is ruggedly designed to provide years of low cost shunting service in your equipment maintenance area.

OPERATION OF THE MAXI RAILCAR MOVER (GAS POWERED)

bulletPneumatic Center Drive Wheels in the lowered position, the railcar is mover is moved under its own power to the track location.
bulletThe railcar mover is positioned on the rails, and the Pneumatic Center Drive Wheels are moved to the raised position.
bulletThe railcar mover is driven into position at the end of the vehicle to be moved.
